Room of Extroverts

Combinatorics · proposed by @Kyle 1295
Suppose $n$ people are in a room. Suppose that $k$ is the number of people in the room who know exactly two other people in the room. If every person in the room knows at least one other person, and the total number of pairs of people who know each other is $15$, determine the maximum possible value of $k$.
